Nap
Head kisses pillow, body sighs, eyes drift
to cozy darkness, as I sink down in
heaven sense embrace that is nature’s gift
to all who have endured life’s daily din.
Freeing the fettered mind from reality’s
persistent clamor, as a stranded boat
unmoored slow floats away in gentle breeze,
I embark to where I care not a mote.
Perhaps a nap is just a turtle shrink
from what is real, but what is no doubt true,
is after this rejuvenating wink,
I experience all with spring like hue.
Chrysalis state between sleep and awake,
is the butterfly I’ll never forsake.
